Our company's history

HOMTRANS SERVICE GmbH &  Co. KG ROSTOCK is a service company born 1990 during the first hours after the re-unification of Germany. As its roots the present shareholder with the foundation inserted the expert knowledge of the former GDR/DDR’s state forwarding company DEUTRANS, his West German partner and initial shareholder the Hamburg registrated forwarding company AUG. HOMANN, already established in 1875.

Afterwards some remarkable data:

January 1990 Joint venture agreement between companies August HOMann and DeuTRANS
March 1990 Official registration as one of the first private Ltd’s in the GDR/DDR
November 1992 Purchase of property in the Dummerstorf business park "Waldeck", near to Rostock
October 1994 DIN ISO 9001 certification by GERMAN LLOYD, Admission as franchisee in the IDS network cooperation
Oktober 1994 Admission as shareholder in the IDS network cooperation
November 1997 Admission as shareholder in the IDS network cooperation
May 1998 Extension of the property to 68,000 sqm
May 2001 Implementation of radio delivery scanning systems
January 2002 Comp. NEVAG becomes major shareholder and exclusive IDS partner in Mecklenburg-Vopommern country
March 2003 The fomer junior shareholder Mr. Gerold Claus acquires all shares of HOMTRANS comp.
June 2003 Opening of the IDS common HUB in Bad Hersfeld
September 2005 Opening of HOMTRANS’ own branch offices in the ports of Mukran (Germany) and St. Petersburg (Russia) in order to complete the forwarding structures towards Russia, CIS and Baltic countries
May 2006 Implementing of new built warehouse with integrated offices (2,000 sqm) in the business park of Beselin near to the HOMTRANS headquarter
